Sustainable fashion is a movement and process of fostering change to fashion products and the fashion industry towards greater ecological integrity and social justice. Sustainable fashion concerns more than just addressing fashion textiles or products. It comprises of addressing the whole fashion industry system. This means dealing with interdependent social, cultural, ecological, and financial systems.

The goal of sustainable fashion is to create flourishing ecosystems and communities through its activities.

This may include:

  •  increasing the value of local production and products
  • prolonging the life-cycle of materials i.e recycled materials where possible
  • selecting eco-friendly fashion materials
  • increasing the value of timeless garments
  • reducing the amount of waste
  • reducing harm to the environment as a result of production and consumption.
  • creating a fair wage for all employees

Another of its aims can sometimes be seen to educate people to practice environmentally friendly consumption by promoting the “green consumer”. The challenge for making fashion more sustainable requires us to re-think the whole system, and this call for action is in itself not new.

The real changes and momentum we’re seeing in recent years towards more sustainable clothing definitely shows consumer behaviour has changed. There’s no better time than now to explore the benefits of sustainability in the fashion industry.

Here's how we can help your business

Fast Fashion Expand Collapse
Fast fashion has an enormous environmental footprint for both its production and disposal. Clothing production requires a considerable amount of energy and resources, while it depends on toxic fabric dyes and other chemicals that contaminate fresh water. Fashion produces a tenth of the world's carbon emissions.
Workers' rights Expand Collapse
Workers’ rights encompass a large array of human rights, from the right to decent work and freedom of association, to equal opportunity and protection against discrimination. We advise organisations to make sure workers and their rights are a core part of their practice.
Supplier Diversity Expand Collapse
We advise on the formation and implementation of supplier diversity, whether it is entirely a new programme or a change in current practice(s) to ensure you have a diverse group of suppliers as a part of your supply chain.
